Details on the truck are in short supply, but Land Rover says that the Range_e features the company’s 3.0-liter diesel V-6, paired with a plug-in parallel hybrid system. Although the company is promising that the Range_e includes four-wheel drive, it’s unclear whether both the electric and diesel motors route power through the ZF-supplied automatic transmission, or whether the system is more like Volvo’s diesel-electric plug-in hybrid concept also coming to Geneva, where the diesel powers two wheels and the electric motor is responsible for the other two. The Range_e will offer an electric-only range of 20 miles, and will pack a top speed—presumably using both powerplants—of roughly 120 mph.

Even if the Range_e does enter production, U.S. sales are unlikely, as the federalization costs would be dwarfed by low sales volume. That’s fine with us; we’ll be able to conserve hyphens.

The interior was completely redesigned; all that remained unmodified was the safety cage. Without compromises also means an interior that offers easy controls and is ergonomic. The interior has an extremely well-organised appearance with focus on the driving machine, and it is equipped with Recaro racing bucket seats. Designers created an interior in so-called “Stealth look” that is reminiscent of the aircraft of the same name. In tribute to the Dakar Rally, the Dakar victories are etched in the anodised aluminium of the centre console, right next to the “Race Touareg” signature.

This is a genuine Rally motorsport vehicle, like the one that was still touring South America in the Dakar Rally two weeks ago and was built to withstand the toughest rally race in the world. The vehicle now being shown in Qatar is a version of the Race Touareg 3 – an SUV that can sprint to 100 km/h in less than six seconds – that is legally approved for use on public roadways. The just over two metre wide body was slightly modified for road use. Instead of 16-inch wheels, new 18-inch wheels from BBS with a gold look are being used. The “Race Touareg” signature – also in a golden colour – stretches the entire length of the vehicle’s sides. In turn, it is perfectly coordinated with the exterior paint in “Magic Morning,” a white that has a slight gold shimmer to it.

Exterior upgrade starts to lowering module for improved handling, as well as 22-inch wheels that can be painted either to match or to contrast the car’s exterior color. In interior, the tuning firm used a combination of materials including leather, wood, metal and carbon fiber. Don’t like this combo? No problem, as Edo Competition says virtually anything can be tailored to the customer’s taste.

Even if all eyes are on the new cars being unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the Italian automaker Alfa Romeo has decided that this would be the perfect moment to offer consumers a preview of the future Giulietta compact hatch. The vehicle is currently set to be officially revealed in 2010 at the Geneva Motor Show, but we think Alfa Romeo may have seen a little bit of opportunity emerge. Most expected for the 147’s successor to be called the Milano, however Alfa decided to bring back a name from the fifties: “The Giulietta is a car that, in the fifties, caught the imagination of generations of car enthusiasts, making the dream of owning an Alfa Romeo and enjoying the high level of comfort and technical excellence accessible for the first time.”

The Giulietta speaks the same design language as the 8C Competizione super car with its trilobe shape and modern take on the classic inverted triangle classic Alfa grill set front and center in the front bumper and flanked on either side by a pair of oversized air intakes. When it goes on sale in the spring of 2010, the Giulietta will be offered with a choice of two gas burning engines. The first is the 1.4TB making 120 HP and the 1.4TB MultiAir that cranks out a total of 170 HP. There will also be two alternatively fueled diesel engines, the 1.6 JTDM pumping out 105 HP and the 2.0 JTDM that makes 170 HP, both belonging to FIAT’s second generation JTDM, turbo diesel engines. The top of the line Giulietta will be the 1750 TBi that develops a maximum output of 235 HP and will come with Alfa’s racy Quadrifoglio Verde trim package.

The 2011 Ford Super Duty can be had with two engines: the 6.2-liter gasoline-powered V8 found in the upgraded SVT Raptor, which puts out 385 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque, or an all-new, Ford-designed 6.7-liter turbo-diesel V8 producing 390 hp and a pavement pummeling 735 lb-ft of twist (at 1,600 rpm).

The latter engine in the F450 is able to tow some 24,400 pounds and has a maximum payload of 4,920 pounds. The F350, which is the closest competitor to the Chevrolet, GMC or Ram equivalent, comes to the fight with 21,600 pounds of towing capacity and 6,520 pounds of payload (if you’re curious why the F450’s maxium payload is less than the F350’s, check out this explanation half-way down the page). Each engine is mated to a 6R140 heavy-duty TorqShift six-speed automatic transmission.

Conceived as a modern-day “activity MPV”, the KV7 was designed by Kia’s California design team to challenge the notion that MPVs are strictly for family transportation. KV7 reveals a vision for a vehicle with the functionality to transport a large number of people, and their belongings, while also serving as a connected social hub for groups of friends and adventure-seekers.

The Kia KV7 Concept’s design stands in sharp contrast to the dramatically raked windshields and wedge-shaped noses found throughout the MPV segment, and builds on the philosophy of “embracing the box” established by Kia’s funky Soul urban crossover to create a unique and alluring design language that brings SUV-like qualities to the segment.

Inspiration for the Kia KV7 Concept was found in the simplicity of elegant box shapes such as sleek smart phones and classic pieces of luggage.

The lounge-like interior is accessed by a striking passenger-side gullwing door which, when opened with the pillar-less front passenger door, provides extraordinarily convenient access. It also allows the vehicle to open up to the outside world and become the sociable hub of an outdoor event.

Paired with an A-pillar and windshield design that is less vertical than traditional MPVs, KV7′s wide stance and its smooth exterior skin and 20-inch wheels exude a modern appearance while projecting the confidence and strength of an SUV.

The Kia KV7 Concept’s inviting face is highlighted by an interpretation of Kia’s signature bold tabbed grille with vertical LED headlamps integrated within the design to create a clean, smooth look. The KV7 features several LED lighting elements that Kia’s design team is evaluating for future production vehicles, including a continuous line of LED fog lights that span the entire front end of the vehicle and directional turn indicators on the outside mirrors and the rear of the vehicle that pulse in the direction being signalled.

The final element that separates the Kia KV7 Concept from the rest of the MPV crowd can be found under the hood – the concept is powered by Kia’s new Theta II 2.0-litre GDI turbocharged engine, as found in the new U.S. spec Optima saloon. Capable of delivering up to 285 hp and mated to a six-speed automatic transmission it delivers V6-type power and performance while enhancing fuel efficiency.

Chrysler 200 gets a new powertrain lineup featuring the 2.4-liter I-4 World Gas Engine mated to either a four-speed or six-speed automatic transaxle, or the new 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine mated to a six-speed automatic transaxle; improved ride and handling tuning which includes stiffened body mounts and softer ride rate, improved suspension geometry with a raised roll center, a new rear sway bar, and new tires and an extensively upgraded treatment for the reduction of noise, vibration and harshness including acoustic laminated glass for the windshield and front door windows.
